CleanDNS, a company dedicated to combating domain abuse by registries and registrars, has announced that Paul Diaz has joined its team as Vice President of Engagement.

CleanDNS is known for its proactive measures against domains involved in various forms of abuse. Recently, the company collaborated with Sav.com to suspend 60,000 domains implicated in phishing, spam, malware, and other harmful activities.

Diaz brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Over the past 13 years, he served at the .org registry Public Interest Registry (PIR), most recently as Vice President of Industry Affairs. His career also includes a tenure as Senior Policy Manager at Network Solutions from 1998 to 2011, and an earlier position as an intelligence analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency.

In his LinkedIn announcement, Diaz expressed his enthusiasm about the new role, stating:

“I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined CleanDNS! I look forward to working with Jeff, Alan, and the rest of the team to leverage my industry experience and help clean up the Internet for good. CleanDNS should be an ideal fit for me and a challenging next step.”

He also acknowledged the difficulty of leaving Public Interest Registry, noting its exceptional people and unique mission. However, Diaz highlighted that his new role remains closely connected to the domain industry, allowing him to continue supporting PIR in his capacity at CleanDNS.
